Kitestival

The second edition of the Rein-Art Kitestival was a great succes. With 30 brands promoting their latest gear, a nice breeze and a lot of pro-kitesurfers there was a nice spectacle on the beach of De Haan!

For the third week of Flysurfer’s Christmas Riddle I made a comic to illustrate the advantages/disadvantages of Flysurfer kites in a funny way.  They liked it so much they granted me with the second place, worth of a Flysurfer Softshell jacket and a beanie! Read the full comic here:

Candle Balloons

When I was 8 years old I got some kind of fascination for hot air balloons, so I made two scale models that were candle-powered.

Muppet

When I was 10 years old I made this muppet character as a movable puppet (as seen on television in ‘the muppet show’).

Stamp Dryer

This is one of my first real inventions I did when I was 7 years old.  When I still collected stamps as a hobby I used this device to dry the wet stamps when they came off the envelopes.

For the Belgian Championship Patin a VelaI designed a trophy in the shape of the catamaran. Afterwards I made two colored versions for some competitors.

25 Years Jojo

For their 25th anniversary wooden toy-shop JoJo asked me to design a tower made from Kapla; they also asked a number of other people like Jo Crepain to do exactly the same thing… Also some of my kites were to be seen at this exposition… Flyer can be seen when clicked on ‘more’.

Dragon Genki

This is my first attempt at building a lightwind single line kite. It’s a modified version of a traditional Genki Kite with an added inflated dragon body-shaped windsock. Created in 2004.

Deze vlieger is mijn eerste zelfgebouwde eenlijnsvlieger. Het is een vlieger voor weinig wind. Hij is gebouwd in 2004.

Testival

On July 12th I organised a kite-happening in De Haan aan Zee, my homespot.  All kiters were welcome to test different types and brands of kites…

Omstandigheden : Zonovergoten strand met windkracht 5/6 uit westelijke richting en frisse temperaturen

Ideale wind voor de kiters.  Maar de stevige bries zorgde er voor dat een aantal beginnende kiters toch liever toeschouwer bleven dan zelf het ruime sop te kiezen.

De show die de meer dan 35 vliegers op het water tezamen met meer dan 20 vliegers op het strand ten beste gaven maakte dit voor 200% goed. We konden onder deze kiters ook enkele buitengewone kiters tot onze gasten rekenen zoals Sam Van Olmen, Christophe Tack, …..die uitzonderlijk demonstraties gaven boven een toch wel erg woelige zee. Ook de flyboardschans gaf enkele spectaculaire beelden voor de toeschouwers,…….

Cold Cover

The Cold Cover, assignment nr.1 in the third bachelor as ’structural design: collapsibles’, is designed to protect tropical plants outside of their natural habitat against extreme temperatures…

De Cold Cover, een bescherming voor niet-winterharde tropische planten, is het resultaat van de eerste ontwerpopdracht van de derde bachelor Productontwikkeling. Hij beschermt de planten tot een vriestemperatuur van maximaal -12°C; is volledig winddicht maar ventileert toch nog en kan zowel in volle grond als op een bloempot gebruikt worden.

Deze opdracht werd uitgevoerd in samenwerking met Sebastian Schulte.

C-Complex

A water-sports-shower-complex, designed to autonomously heat its own water…

C-Complex

Het C-Complex is een stranddouchecomplex, specifiek toegepast op watersporters, dat ontworpen is om autonoom zijn water te kunnen opwarmen in de dakconstructie. Zo wordt geen energie verspild aan het opwarmen van water en krijgen de watersporters geen ‘koude douche’ na het sporten…

Deze opdracht werd uitgevoerd in samenwerking met David Schenk.

Turtle Horn

This bicycle horn was my end assignment for the course called ‘3D modeling advanced’, which involves creating organic shapes with surfaces in the NURBS-CAD software Rhinoceros. Rendered in Vray.

Deze fietstoeter is mijn eindopdracht voor het vak dat het leren van het softwarepakket Rhinoceros (3D NURBS modeling) omvat. Het doel was om een product te modelleren met zo veel mogelijk dubbel gekromde surfaces. De renders zijn gemaakt in Vray for Rhino.

Packaging Design

Second assignment in the second bachelor year was my personal favorite… the design of a presentation package for flower bulbs !

De tweede opdracht in de tweede bachelor Productontwikkeling omvatte het maken van een verpakking in karton voor een individueel opgelegd product. Bij mij was dit een feestelijke verpakking voor bloembollen.

Tension Control System

This design for the first assignment in the second bachelor year was a system to adapt the tension on the mast support cables on small dinghys in a fast, simple and very accurate way.

Mijn ontwerp voor de eerste ontwerpopdracht van de tweede bachelor productontwikkeling was een systeem om de stagen van kleine zeilvaartuigen snel en nauwkeurig aan te kunnen passen.

Classical Speaker

This project was all about styling a speaker to fit to a selected type of music, in this case Classical music.

The scale model is made in PolyStyrene foam.

Bij dit ontwerp was het de bedoeling om een luidspreker te ontwerpen die een bepaalde muziekstijl uitstraalde. Mijn muziekstijl: klassieke muziek.

Wilkinson Wasp

The mission in this assignment was to combine the characteristics of an animal with those of an existing product into a new product that has the looks of both. My combination was a razor (Wilkinson Sword Quattro) and a Wasp.

The 1:1 scale model is made in PolyStyrene foam.

Deze opdracht omvatte het combineren van de eigenschappen van een dier en een bestaand product in een nieuw product dat de kenmerken heeft van beiden. Mijn combinatie was een scheermes (Wilkinson Sword Quattro) met een wesp.

Het model is gemaakt in PolyStyreenschuim.
